Barbados Blackened Fish is a vibrant dish inspired by the bold flavours of Caribbean cuisine, particularly the sunny island of Barbados. This recipe features fresh fish fillets coated in a spiced rub of paprika, thyme, garlic, and cayenne, then seared to perfection for a smoky, charred finish. Often paired with tangy mango salsa or a side of rice and beans, it’s a perfect choice for summer barbecues, casual gatherings, or light, tropical-inspired dinners that bring a taste of the Caribbean to your table.


Serves 4

Ingredients:


4 x Salmon fillets (or other fish fillets)
4 tsp Spice Culture Hot Barbados
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp butter
Lemon or lime wedges

Instructions: 

 

  • Prepare fish fillets: pat dry with paper towel, rub on a little oil and coat with Spice Culture HOT BARBADOS rub.
  • Heat frypan and add oil and butter.
  • Panfry fish fillets until the coating is browned (or blackened).
  • Cover the fish with a lid on low heat if further cooking is required.
  • Drizzle with lime juice.


Serve with:
lemon or lime wedges, green salad, crusty bread and a white wine.
